Lately, the acronym, “DEI” has been co-opted and inserted as a harmful and derogatory term meant to delegitimize the accomplishments, achievements and successes of members of minority and oppressed groups. The purpose of this workshop is to demystify the dreaded DEI terminology, redefine the practice, and utilize the power of art to share stories, encourage understanding, increase awareness, and offer tips to help overcome those pesky biases each and every human possesses. Jonathan "Courageous" Clark is a multidisciplinary artist, activist and founder of ART.Official Intelligence, LLC. He serves as a member of the Knoxville Mayor’s Maker City Council, a board member of the Network of Ensemble Theaters, SpaceCraft, and The Waymakers Collective. Jonathan is a native son of Knoxville, TN and Alumnus of the University of Tennessee – Knoxville, whose professional performance career began at the age of thirteen with Carpetbag Theatre’s T.R.Y. Youth Ensemble and he’s remained a working performance artist ever since; traveling the country performing, directing and facilitating his brand of immersive DEI workshops, while experiencing as much culture as the United States has to offer.
